the endoscopic carpal tunnel release is about a 10-minute outpatient surgical procedure under a general anesthetic upon completion of the procedure you're taken to the recovery room and within an hour you are awake and ready to go home

after the endoscopic carpal tunnel release procedure you will awaken with your hand numb and this can last for several hours to even a day upon completion of the anesthetic you should notice immediate resolution of the numbness and tingling in the hand except

in severe cases when you have a severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome the loss of feeling or numbness can take months to resolve and any weakness that may be present may be permanent after the endoscopic carpal tunnel release you can expect to have

mild to moderate discomfort for several days requiring narcotic analgesics and then quickly transitioning to just anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil or leave therapy can usually speed up the recovery but frequently as not needed

just returning to activities of daily living is usually all that is necessary to recover from the surgery after the endoscopic carpal tunnel release usually you can return to your regular job activities within several weeks but you can begin
